(Baltimore-September 30, 2015) Councilman Carl Stokes, Chair of the Taxation, Finance and Economic Development Committee will launch an investigative hearing to find out why the first round of voter mandated audits in Baltimore have not been completed by its September 3, 2015 deadline. The hearing will be held on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The first round of audits to be completed are audits of the Departments of Finance, Transportation and Recreation and Parks none of which have been completed at this time and apparently won’t be for several months.

Today, I am announcing that I will seek the office of Mayor in next year’s election. I do this because Baltimore needs honest leadership that will take a new direction. The problems we face – too few jobs, too much crime, high taxes, and far too many under performing schools – are old problems that we have been dealing with in old ways without success.
